Press Release Body: Donning bright pink tutus, members of Aon's Mergers and Acquisitions Group (AMAG) and Knowledge Management team took on the Three Peaks Challenge to climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours.
The team's efforts raised £8,060 for Hammer Out, a small charity that gives help to people with brain tumours and their families. And to mark Aon's 20th anniversary, the team received an extra 20% on top of Aon's usual contribution towards fund-raising activities, which totalled £3,360.
Setting off up Ben Nevis (1344m) at 5pm on Friday, the 13-member team then scaled Scafell Pike (978m) in the Lake District and finally Snowdon (1085m) in Wales while also driving about 500 miles. To earn extra sponsorship, AMAG chairman Roger Macey posed the additional style challenge of wearing ballerina skirts - handmade by a team member's mum - at the top of each mountain.
Tim Davies, director at AMAG, said: "Despite bruised toes, sore knees and sleep deprivation, six people stormed the mountains to finish within the 24-hour deadline, while three more returned within 28 hours. It's fuelled our enthusiasm to take up another endurance challenge next year. This may be anything from the New York marathon to running with bulls in Pamplona or bog snorkelling!"entertainment and media liability insurance
